This Is Your Brain on Sugar
A neuroscience PhD candidate explains what sugar does to your brain in this informative and entertaining educational video.
This video will make you rethink the leniency our society shows towards the overconsumption of sugar.
A general rule: don’t overconsume sugar; avoid high fructose corn syrup; avoid artificial sweeteners; and go organic if/when you can (more sugar companies are being certified non-GMO). Be sure to exercise so the sugar gets burned.
Pro-tip: Eat fruit! Whole fruits (not juice) have both sugar and fiber (unlike juice, which only has sugars and the fruits’ vitamins and nutrients), where the fiber helps the body to digest the sugar more easily. Drink juice in moderation to avoid giving your body too much sugar without the fiber to help digest it.
